Alex Amend is a freelance writer and researcher focusing on the far right and the politics of climate change.
Previously, he was the Intelligence Project Research Director at the Southern Poverty Law Center responsible for tracking hate groups during their unprecedented rise under President Donald Trump. At the SPLC he led major investigations into the alt-right and created the first comprehensive inventory of Confederate monuments. After the SPLC, he worked as a communications director at the Sierra Club.
Alex lives and works in New Mexico (occupied Tano land) with his wife and daughter and serves as a volunteer firefighter.
